Here is a chart showing Google searches for “palin” over the last 30 days, compared with “mccain” and “obama”. As you can see, searches for Ms. Palin rose dramatically after the announcement of the VP choice, but have fallen off since then, although she is still (as of 9/15) roughly twice as high as Obama, and perhaps 3 times as popular in search as McCain:

Also interesting: the news reference volume, which is shown in the chart at the bottom. News reference volume shows how many times each term was used in Google News, which includes all major outlets as well as numerous small news sources (but not most blogs). Here, you can see that Obama had a much bigger news bump during the democratic convention than McCain got during the RNC. Palin had about a week-long period of news dominance, and has now dropped below both McCain and Obama by this measure.
