My friend Rabbit was worried. It was Friday night, the night of the first debate between John McCain and Barack Obama, and he wanted pizza. But…. would the pizza place even pick up the phone? Would they be so swamped with debate night orders that they would scoff at his request? Or would they have shut down their ovens, to devote their full attentions to the debate?
Worry no more, friend. MOST of the country – the part that doesn’t endlessly obsess about politics – was having a pretty normal Friday night. And from what I hear, the pizza delivery went off without a hitch.
Nevertheless, it was a big day for Google searches on the word “debate.” Mostly, folks were looking for things like “watch debate online”, “watch debate live” and “what time debate.” Amazingly, searches for the word debate even, very briefly, outpaced searches for America’s favorite food!
