Eleventh Hour Election Searches: “proposition [x]” and “where to vote”

The night before the election, people are looking for the locations of polls near them (“where do I vote”), and similar logistics (“what time do polls open”, “voting polls hours”).

On a more disturbing note, there are searches for “check voter registration” and “am i registered to vote.” As my 5th grade art teacher (yes, there used to be art class in school) used to say: PEEEh-puhl! You’re about 2 weeks too late to be checking your voter registration.

And last but not least, I see a search for this phrase:

  • obama vs mccain issues comparison

Wow! That’s a master of procrastination right there. Searching Google for a candidate comparison at midnight the night before the presidential election? I bow to you.

California voters like myself, faced with a four+ page ballot, are Googling information on state propositions. I find this matrix of proposition endorsements, which shows endorsements from many organizations, from the ACLU to the CA Correctional Officers, extremely helpful.
