Today Politico and Huffington Post were writing about expenditures on clothes for Sarah Palin by the RNC over the past couple months. People are searching Google for “palin clothes” today; this comes as no surprise to me — we’ve been obsessed with the governor’s looks for months, as can be seen in these looks-related searches since Ms. Palin was tapped for VP:

Personally, I don’t think that dressupgate will resonate very strongly with voters. Who among us hasn’t at least once fantasized about gaining sudden, unexpected fame, and the exuberant shopping sprees that would ensue?
The other search I’m noticing today is “McCain PNAC,” which refers to McCain’s relationship with the neoconservative think tank, Project for a New American Century (PNAC).
These are the people who strongly advocated regime change in Iraq, whether or not it had any connection to 9-11. Here’s a quote from their Sept. 20, 2001 letter to President Bush:
It may be that the Iraqi government provided assistance in some form to the recent attack on the United States. But even if evidence does not link Iraq directly to the attack, any strategy aiming at the eradication of terrorism and its sponsors must include a determined effort to remove Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq. Failure to undertake such an effort will constitute an early and perhaps decisive surrender in the war on international terrorism. The United States must therefore provide full military and financial support to the Iraqi opposition. American military force should be used to provide a “safe zone” in Iraq from which the opposition can operate. And American forces must be prepared to back up our commitment to the Iraqi opposition by all necessary means.
At least five of the PNAC’s former members are now serving as policy advisors to John McCain. I’m not seeing this in the mainstream media so it must be bubbling up from blogs. I’m curious to see if it breaks into the MSM anytime soon.
