“palin” vs. “biden”

UPDATE 10/2/2008: With the Palin vs. Biden debate on the horizon, Google searches for “palin” continue to blow “biden” out of the water. I can tell from my referring keywords list on Google Analytics that a number of folks are trying to find information comparing Palin vs. Biden on the issues; yet the media is so focused on gaffes and presentation that they are barely touching on this.

So for those of you looking for actual stances on the issues, not just a bunch of horse-race speculation, here are some links I’ve dug up (feel free to suggest your favorites in the comments):

If I were working for these campaigns, I would take the info from “on the issues” and make it into a nice, readable chart, which I would then post to a page that’s optimized for the term “palin vs. biden”.

But that’s just me.. the Google Pollster.

ORIGINAL POST: Sarah Palin is certainly garnering a lot more curiousity than Joe Biden, as can be seen in this graph of Google searches for the two names over the past 30 days:

Google Trends: 'palin', 'biden'

Google Trends:

This makes perfect sense to me, given what an unknown Ms. Palin is.

Interesting that today, just two days after the big announcement, all of the ‘hot’ searches for Palin’s name are related to her famliy and baby – including the search for “babygate palin.” Wondering what “babygate” is? It’s too icky a rumor for me to reprint, but you can read about it on daily kos.

I wonder if the Left will tear itself apart, bickering over whether Ms. Palin’s personal family choices are heroic or crazy, forward-thinking or inappropriate.
