Google Searches for Michelle Obama, Jill Biden, and Hillary Clinton Swamped by Hurricane Sarah

During the democratic convention, I really thought that Jill Biden would be one to watch, and that her search popularity would increase over the coming weeks. I was quite wrong, as the following chart shows. This chart graphs Google searches for Jill Biden, Michelle Obama, and Hillary Clinton over the last 30 days:

All three of these searches peaked during the convention but have trailed off dramatically since then. And what, do you suppose, has moved in to take their place? A little something I like to call ‘hurricane palin.” Add “sarah palin” to the chart, and the other three women barely even show up, because the Palin searches so dwarf them in scale:

Although it’s dwindling, even today Ms. Palin’s search volume is still higher than any of the other three womens’ at their August peak. And that’s without the likely bump she’ll receive from today’s interview with Charlie Gibson of ABC News. A steady diet of fluff, scandal, hair gossip and the occasional pregnancy should keep that search volume going strong.
