Searches Today: Taxcut.com and Tax-related

This evening, many of the Hot Trends in Google search are related to a certain tax-cut website:

  • taxcut.barackobama.com
  • taxcut facts
  • taxcutfacts.org
  • tax cut calculator
  • tax cut fact check
  • tax facts.org
  • taxcut.com

Fascinating: These all look like variations on the same theme – people looking for the site, created by Obama, that includes his tax cut calculator. But where is all this newfound hotness coming from?  Is the Obama campaign doing something to insert the question into everybody’s mind this evening?

The AP put out a fact check article on McCain’s tax-related statements earlier today, but it doesn’t reference the Obama site. And the calculator’s nothing new – I saw it for the first time a few weeks ago.

Here is a chart showing Google searches for the phrases “obama tax cut” and “mccain tax cut”:

Google Trends: Obama Tax Cut, McCain Tax Cut

Google Trends: Obama Tax Cut, McCain Tax Cut

Add to the long list of the Obama campaign’s accomplishments, the fact that the phrase “obama tax cut” is part of the Google-searching public consciousness, but “mccain tax cut” is not.
