Last night when I looked on Google’s hot trends, I saw something heartening: searches for “september 11 lesson plans”, “teach september 11″, and “what happened on september 11.”
However, in case you thought that something like teaching our children about what happened on 9/11 would be non-controversial, think again. We in the USA seem to find a way to polarize just about everything, even a shared national tragedy.
Fortunately, we can always get over our discontent with some fine, fine, discount shopping. This graph compares searches for “black friday” (the big shopping day after Thanksgiving) to searches for “9/11″:
