I keep seeing searches in Google’s hot trends that are related to Cindy McCain’s age: “how old is cindy mccain”, “cindy mccain age” and so on.

I’m glad that we can at least say that we are significantly more interested in the age of the person who is actually running for president than we are in the age of his wife. (she’s 54). You might take this as evidence that we, as a nation, are about 1.7 times as interested in the issues as we are in gossip, rumor, and the generally Jerry Springer side of things.
But I think you’d be wrong. Because the Palin-related searches going on right now are wayyyy Springer: “palin bikini”, “bristol drinking”, as two examples.
