The Obama Experiment

I’m always interested to see the influence of off-line campaigns on on-line search behavior. So when I learned about the ad campaign decrying Obama’s health reform proposal as the “Obama Experiment” — complete with an accompanying website, http://barackobamaexperiment.com/, I was curious whether there would be an increase in searches for “barack obama experiment.”

The answer? Nope, not so far.  Google Trends isn’t showing any activity on that phrase, and I didn’t see the phrase in the last several days of Google Hot Trends either.

Not satisfied, I went to look at Tweetvolume, a site that tracks the number of Tweets including certain words.  Here is a screen shot comparing the phrase “obama experiment” against the phrase “insurance reform:”

So far the ads are only running in Arkansas, Nevada, and North Dakota; they don’t seem to have had an effect on the zeitgeist yet – at least not the online one.
